ONE OF THE DATES WE VISITED THE RESTAURANT: 4-29-05

FAVORITE FOOD: Fried shrimp & oysters; peeled, boiled shrimp; blackened catfish; crawfish ettouffeé

OTHER GREAT FOODS: cornbread salad; potato salad; English peas and cheese salad; fried catfish; blackberry cobbler; chocolate cake

FOOD WE LIKED LEAST: The froglegs had a good flavor but were too tough. The hotwater cornbread was tasty but too tough.

MOST OUTSTANDING FEATURE: Delicious seafood and desserts with a comfortable friendly family dining atmosphere. They have two large dining rooms to accomodate their large crowds.

SPECIALS: N/A

APPEARANCE: Very clean

SERVER: N/A

SERVICE: Good

UNIQUE FEATURES: Delicious food and ability to handle large crowds

COMPLIMENTARY RECIPE: Calvin Hollis doesn't give out his recipes. He says too many people have tried to copy his restaurant and steal his recipes.

COMMENTS: This restaurant is a classic in North Louisiana. In its 35 years of existence, it has developed an excellent reputation and serves about 500-600 people a night. Every Mother's Day (the only Sunday they are open) they serve a huge noon buffet and expect about 1,700 people this year!

It is a reasonable drive from Ruston, Monroe, and Farmerville, LA, and Eldorado, AR, and well worth it.
